    Makes perfect sense.

    Space command needs a lot of highly educated civilians supporting it alongside the military. COSprings is very conservative but a ton of those civilians live further north in bluer areas.

    Moving it to Alabama would have caused a massive brain drain because highly educated people don’t want to live in Alabama.
