A total of 30,363 residents voted to convert the Municipality of Carmona into a component city of Cavite in a plebiscite held Saturday.
The Commission on Elections said turnout was at 53.90% – or 31,632 out of the 58,691 registered voters.
About 96% of those who voted said yes to Carmona’s cityhood while only 4% or 1,016 said no, according to the board of canvassers.

The plebiscite on Saturday, July 8, resulted in 30,363 voters saying yes to the ratification of Republic Act No. 11938, which creates the city charter of Carmona, previously a first-class municipality.
