    This feels ripped out of the playbook of scummy mobile ads or adult sites where trying to click the x leads you to the exact content your were trying to avoid

        This is the new embedded Twitter post on News sites, not on Twitter directly. That’s why I clicked the X, wanting it to go away but I ended up on X and gave Elon a click

          And maybe that was his idea. He‘d trick people in mass visiting his site with obnoxious embeds that beg you to close them and bam! You‘re right there in the mosch pit.

          That’s fair. It’s quite difficult to get whole communities of people move to another platform. I still miss the RuneScape (art) community that was on Twitter. That’s really the only thing I miss about the site though, so can’t say I regret leaving.

      Of course it’s on purpose - everything narcissists do, they do to force you to interact with them. Because ignoring them is exactly what they hate.
