Just discovered that this feature is not available for Unlimited subscribers, but it is for Mail Essentials? Why would they not include this for the Proton Unlimited users? This is a bit infuriating tbh.
If I’m understanding this correctly, is this (for example) like when you’re home router wants to email out it’s log file through Proton but it wouldn’t be able to do that?
Yeah that sounds correct. In my case I wanted to self-host a certain application, and need SMTP for the service to be able to send me password reset forms etc… While I can just use a throw-away email for this, i’d much rather use my own email :<
I’m also unlimited user and i simply asked support if i can have it enabled. They asked me what i think i would send per month and if it would be more than 500 mails or 1000 or something. I said like 10 mails per month max :D Some invite links, weekly logs and maybe a pw-reset for all my services and thats it.
Then they just enabled it for me without any extra payment or stuff
@RandomLegend @Sunny When did you ask? I inquired back in November and they told me it was only available for certain plans, and I wasn’t eligible with unlimited.
Doesn’t matter, i forgot i am on the business plan instead of unlimited - sorry for the “getting your hopes up”
Thats good, but also scuffed at the same time… if why not just enable it for all paid users, rather than keeping it exclusive…?

ah ok, thanks anyway! :)
@Sunny @CosmicCleric If you are okay with self hosting, you can use this project to make it work: https://github.com/shenxn/protonmail-bridge-docker
