This battery lasts the life of the router under the operating environmental conditions specified for the router, and is not field-replaceable.

But who determines its lifespan?

Knowing there is a battery set to fail and I can’t simply replace it makes me physically uncomfortable. Enough so that I’d rather it not have RTC.

Thanks Cisco.

The tire pressure sensors on one of my motorcycles were like this. Replacement sensors are $280 each. Now the OEM sensors have replaceable CR2032 battery holders. The real A-hole design is in the software that cycles through an un-acknowlegable/un-cancelable warning that obscures display info for 5 seconds with three seconds in between under low/drained battery conditions.
