Happy accidents! Have you had your coffee yet?

I forgot I left this coffee in the freezer to cool off.

Speaking of uncomfortable coffee conversations, I notice our new mod friend deleted their post in off my chest. They didn’t like the narrative that was forming.

Like watching a slow motion Trainwreck, I have to stay subscribed just to see what’s going to happen next.

So far they did not violate any of the Lemmy.world terms of service. Though I feel like we’re doing a disservice to somebody with paranoid delusions, by enabling them in a platform where they can seek only reinforcement of their delusions and delete anything that pulls them back to reality. And that makes me sad

Just like it’s a fine line between brilliant satire and moron there’s a massive overlap between genius troll and someone who’s very mentally ill.

      I hope it’s the former.

I genuinely think it’s the latter. They’re very consistent, anything the challenges they’re delusion gets deleted. Anything that reinforces it stays.

Looking at their posting history, they seem like a genuine person trying to reach out, but they’re delusions push them away from people. So they’re looking for some form of connection, and a reinforcement of their delusion.

It makes me sad honestly, though they do make for interesting internet content. I just wish Lemmy showed you deleted posts, so the train wreck was visible for posterity

All the more reason that the post should be maintained for posterity!

Lemmy allowing a thread poster to delete the entire thread is probably something that has to change long-term.

Meh. I don’t really care about one crazy person, that would just reinforce their delusions. I do care about lemmie’s long-term health, and content being removed by a single person destroying hundreds of other people’s effort is a long-term problem
