Smoke me a kipper, I’ll be back for breakfast
What a guy!
What a Smeeeee- Heeeeee-.
I just want you to know that I both love and hate you for this post. My response will take hours to complete.
How many hours roughly? So we can set an alarm…?
Well, since all of the Red Dwarf footage I can find is garbage… I don’t know.
Editing to add: I also need to find the episode where Rimmer becomes hard light and can touch things. If anyone knows, please tell me.
Consider this a placeholder:
Season 6 episode 2
Thank you!
🎶 More reliable than a garden strimmer 🎵
Ro Laren goes from prison to starfleet then joins a terrorist cell within a year. She still managed to get a promotion in that span. What did Harry do that got him snubbed so hard?
What did Harry do that got him snubbed so hard?
Presumably it’s not any single thing, he’s just a “SmegHead”. (Common insult thrown at Rimmer, in Red Dwarf.)
“It’s a small ship”
You got me wondering, did anyone ever get a promotion on Voyager?
Paris did. Then he got demoted and then promoted again.
And I want to say Tuvok got a promotion also
I always thought his rank was honorary because of his roll on the ship. As in like a helmsman is traditionally a lieutenant.
That was the reason, but it was a full field commission, as a captain is allowed to do.
Neelix became a cook, then morale officer, then chief ambassador.
Just started a re-watch of Voy. I forgot what a stone cold badass Neelix is in the first few episodes.
Yeah!
I would love to see modern Neelix cameos where his rebel vibe is back.
I felt like Neelix gave up a lot of his rebel badassery to get his adopted family home.
New Neelix stories - set after Voyager is home - could show him restored to his former badassery, but a more seasoned confident version.
Smeg!
On the other hand somewhere out there is an hot shot pilot named ace kim, rescuing alien princesses from the breen
#justiceForHarry, make him a captain and give him a class in the new Starfleet academy show.
He’s owed so many promotions, he should outrank Janeway. Fleet Admiral Harry Kim.
Unfortunately, he won’t be in the SFA show. It takes place in the 29th century. The only Trek Alum who will be in the cast will be Robert Picardo. The explanation there being obvious.
Maybe Harry gets to the right time period through a stasis leak.
Just wave a light over him and bam! Harry Kim in the 29th century.
29th century and still an ensign, I presume?
Jr. Lieutenant Second Grade.
That’s right, I had forgotten about that less-than-memorable Voyager novel in which Dr. Lewis Zimmerman leaves behind holoengineering for cryonics, nice catch.
Rimmer didn’t kill the entire crew, Lister did…
Rimmer was 100% assigned the responsibility of repairing the drive plate that released the neutron blast that killed the entire crew of Red dwarf.
However, in all fairness, everybody on the ship knew that rimmer was incredibly incompetent and assigning him such an important responsibility was a failure of command, so the real person who killed the entire crew was whoever ordered rimmer to do the repair.
Lister was already in stasis at this point so he literally could not be responsible for this.
Fair enough, it’s been 20 years. I just thought the need for the repair was caused by the cat, which would have been Lister’s fault for sneaking the cat on board in the first place.
The cat was already stored safely in the cargo decks at that point.
They have released more seasons. I think they’re up to season 13 right now? And some of the later ones are pretty good. Definitely worth a rewatch.
I don’t know if it’s still there but I got to watch it again recently for free on tubi.
Only in Rimmer’s logic :)
I think it was something like “If Lister hadn’t been imprisoned in stasis for smuggling a cat on board, he would have been there to help me mend the drive plate, so I wouldn’t have made the mistake which caused the failure, which killed all the crew”.
Lister smuggled the cat that caused the malfunction on to the ship in the first place unless I’m remembering that wrong, but I haven’t seen Red Dwarf in about 2 decades.
You might be right, actually. There’s only one way to find out: re-watch it all again :)
So, I thought it was Saru on the right at first. I was just agreeing with everything until it said “killed entire crew” and was like, “season 5 really went off the rails, didn’t it?”
