Good morning. 🕊️🕊️🕊️

Do you know that when I was growing up, we never locked our doors. Now not only do I lock the doors, but I also have a house alarm. What I’m not sure of is if the threat is greater, or companies like alarm companies are exaggerating the threat. It’s probably both. I didn’t lock my car doors either. To be fair though, the cars I owned back then weren’t exactly prime targets for car thieves. In those days car locks were mechanical in most cars as were the window roll up device, there was a hand crank. It’s not that it was too much trouble to roll up the windows and lock the doors. Our security advice was just don’t leave the keys in the car.
“I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three.” - Elayne Boosler

@[email protected] I tried not locking the door of a hire car that I left in a Sydney hotel car park.
I didn’t lock the door because there was nothing in the car worth stealing apart from the 50¢ coins for the harbour bridge in the ash tray.
But the people who stole the coins were too stupid to try the door handle, and opened the door with a crowbar anyway.
That’s sad, unlocked door aside, why maximize the damage by prying open the door. Why not just break a window. But then thieves aren’t generally know for analytical thought.
@[email protected] Another stupid thief we encountered was the burglar who left $20 bills scattered on the floor, apparently not realising that these were money.
