Would a lightsaber make a good lawn care tool? I think so.

We’d have to build in some safety features at least to prevent the vertical drop to Earth’s core business. But even if that’s all and it could still slice through your water lines and drop a live oak on your house- I think it would be worth the risk.

You’d have a ‘lawnmower’ configuration with a little rolling assembly that kept the blade horizontal over the grass. A rolling vertical configuration for edging, and of course freestyle. You’d still need a blower but you could just kinda stir a pile of leaves into vapor. Plus you could fuck up some hornets.

Just a thought. Obviously been fighting the lawn recently and been thinking a lightsaber would make that part of my life a lot easier.

What do you think about lightsaber lawn care and\or what other non-saber related uses would a lightsaber have?

It would probably be better to have a droid that pushes a reel-type lawn mower around.

Even functional laser cutters things people have done have problems. One is that they leave mulch on top. Another is that they scorch the top of the blades and that’s worse than simple cutting.

A robot that sweeps the clippings up and goes out every couple of days would be the best in that set up. And I already happen to have one.

The technology could maybe have application in welding. Especially if it could deposit filler materials. (Plasma deposition, maybe?)
