What does it mean and what do I do about it?

Windows defender is adequate if you’re not downloading high risk files. If you want to have additional protection, ESET is a good product but pretty much uses the same definitions as defender.

What do I do about it?

Uninstall Avast… Best antivirus software is Windows Defender + trusted websites/sources + common sense.

There is zero need for 3rd party antivirus software in 2023. They’re just a problem looking for a solution.

Thank you for the helpful comment, seems like I was not up to date on virus protection.

Because its based on distrusting yourself and in general the user. (Edit, thats not nesisarly a bad thing.) However AV software goes way beond a simple “sanity check” these days. AV is for corperations to distrust employees now. These strong arm distrust fetures are “acceptable” on company property but walk all over my boundries for a personal machine. Use whatever is built into your OS (and NOT your OEM. Like from Windows etc… and not from Lenovo etc…). if there is none built in, it means its your choice if its needed.

Edit: if I failed to explain my point or if its bad, explain why.

there are zero reasons to run an antivirus program

Viruses still exist, so why do you say that?

so what it means is they create a bunch of “threats” that mean nothing to block them and give you the illusion their software is doing something. Oh, it’s also making your PC slower by intercepting most IO tasks.

You really hate AV software, lol

As its a multi user instance someone probs posted malware and that got index and blacklisted the instance. If its a reputable instance they will have already cleaned up the problem you just have to bypass avast if you really want to get there. It will be rechecked and resolved in a day or two though.

Is it possable the AV is just set on a tight whitelist mabe anything 1M visits a day and marks anything low traffic as a “back ally site”
