Except that there’s no other home for libertarian ideas. Sure libertarians may not be FOR conservative causes, but “rugged individualism”, small government aspirations, and social apathy are incompatible with progressive platforms.
Since this is about conservative vs progressive for the community and not democrat vs republican, and it’s de facto 2 party, I think there’s only one logical place to put libertarians: apathetic lean right isn’t a category to pick.
A Libertarian society might lead to some more conservative ideas but I don’t think it’s completely incompatible with progressive ideas, a libertarian doesn’t have an issue with gay marriage etc so I think there’s a clear distinction there
There is indeed a little nuance, but it seems to me that if the question is “do libertarians qualify as conservative” that the answer leans toward yes if the only answers are yes/no.
I mean I would agree but the other option is destroying the economy even if libertarians disagree with conservatives on social issue at least they don’t try over regulate the market
Are libertarians conservative though? 🤔
I would say yes.

They don’t believe in social conservative ideas though and their other believe don’t really classify as conservative
