How brave of Christie to stop tongue cleaning Trumps ass the moment Trump ceased to become a useful tool.
He’s just resting his tounge in case Trump gets the nomination again, in which case it’s back to work.
And what sounds like infighting or a slight is in fact defense, Christie towing more line yet again. Trump and Co knew the value of those documents. Those were bargaining pieces to take with him on his way out, as he was losing power and his access to more documents. “Pretending he’s still president”, yeah, like the time he withheld support to Ukraine in exchange for investigation of his opponent! Holding on to top secret documents wasn’t for ego, it was for favors. DJT thought those documents might be get-out-of-jail-free cards. The irony being they may now cost him jail time.
Christie is on the warpath for Trump. Trump gave him covid while Christie was helping him prepare to debate Biden; Trump didn’t tell anyone he had tested positive.
Christie was hospitalized and in intensive care for a week. Iirc he was in the hospital for a month total. He was so sick, at one point he said his goodbyes to his wife.
When Trump finally called Christie in the hospital, he didn’t ask how he was doing or anything, he just told Christie not to tell anyone he gave him covid.
So now Christie is PISSED and wants to tear Trump down.

This is like The Lincoln Project all over again. They produced those vicious attack ads against Trump in the previous election. The problem with them is simply the fact that TLP is a right-wing political group.
Why aren’t liberal and moderate groups willing to go on the offensive and attack Trump and the rest of the GOP? The Left in this country is spineless. They should be attacking Trump non-stop, but also attacking all these other Republicans. Guys like Christie are positioning themselves as less-abrasive alternatives to Trump even though deep down, they are still pieces of shit like all Republicans. They still believe in the same awful policies that have led this country to the terrible position it is in now. But with all that, Democrats are not able or willing to go on the offensive and attack these clowns. We have to rely on right-wing groups like TLP or in this case Christie to attack Trump. These people are honing their skills in attacking Trump but at some point they will turn their attacks toward Biden and other Democrats. I am so sick and tired in seeing Democrats being cowards.

I completely agree. However, the reality is, the people that should be listening to Christie right now, are very clearly and deliberately not listening to him.
According the conservative talk radio I overheard the other day, Christie was being lambasted for being a “fat, butterball, beached whale” and was being lumped in with all the RINO’s, Never-Trumpers, Democrats, Liberals and whoever else has now sworn absolute fealty to Trump and thus to be shamed, attacked and most of all ignored.
It was interesting that Christie was being attacked for his weight, but I guess some sort of moral consistency is not really all the important.

I don’t doubt this is a part of the reason. Maybe not the whole reason, but it’s dumb and petty enough to be believable
maybe it was a small part, but it would be pretty naive to think that it was a significant part. he’s not kid ourselves— trump waned to somehow profit from his possession of these documents and very likely did. any other reason certainly revolves around pettiness and bitterness over losing, but his playing make-believe and boosting his own sense of self-importance would have been pretty low on his list priorities of keeping them, especially at the end, certainly below his overinflated sense of entitlement.
and that’s exactly what I think Christie is— naive… that, and obviously attempting to get a rise out of Trump, which, as we all know, is pretty easy to do.
Make no mistake, Christie is not even remotely naive. He is being deliberately disingenuous to downplay the severity of the situation.
