For the use case of a VPS server for websites
I don’t really see there being an advantage just from an OS perspective.
If you’re hosting websites, you may want to be sticking with a tried and tested (and widely adopted) version of Apache or nginx where you know that following guides, getting support, etc. from 1 community or another might be easier for it, or you don’t like the idea of it getting big version bumps, etc.
Additionally, you may be more familiar with RHEL or CentOS because you worked with them in your career, but more familiar with tinkering/fixing Ubuntu becuase you’ve used it more personally and to learn. Or the same in reverse.

YES!!! This is exactly the case! And as you say, probably the two options are very similar when it comes to hosting websites. I’ve used Apache on both.
