Hey guys! Commiespammer here, and today I’ll be telling you guys how to make traditional chinese dumplings! Note that this is just a quick overview, and you should probably find a real guide online if you don’t want to fuck up very badly. So, here goes!

So first, what you’re going to want to do is to prepare the stuffing, which is pretty easy. You want to prepare some soy sauce, ground pork, and lettuce. Then, grind up the lettuce and stir it with the pork in a pot, adding a little soy sauce. Keep mixing until it’s mostly even.

Then, take some dough and roll it into a loop about 3 or 4 centimeters in diameter. Chop it into little circle slices about a centimeter across, then roll them into circles slightly bigger than your palm with a dough roller. Make sure to sprinkle some flour to prevent sticking.

Now, you take the little circles and you scoop some of the pork with a small spoon and place it in the middle. Then, you pinch together two opposite sides of the circle. I’m not even going to try to explain what you do now, so here’s a picture:

Next, you put them on a cloth and steam them— put them over a pot filled with water. Do this until the dough turns yellowish-gray and becomes bouncy. Enjoy!

You can serve them with soy sauce and vinegar (the black chinese kind, not the shitty american stuff that tastes like bleach). If you can’t eat them all at once, you can fry them the next day so they’re even better!

some stream of consciousnesses tips: pop a little of the stuffing into the microwave to taste - i usually also put in white pepper, sesame oil, ginger, garlic into my dumplings - honestly whatever you want. you always think you can put more filling than you think, put less and it’ll seal much easier. my secret ingredient is adding in some gelatin to get a sort of soup dumpling vibe. i also usually just boil my dumplings since i cba to set up a steamer, but make sure your dumps are sealed tight. some fresh ginger in the vinegar is a great addition. make a billion dumplings and freeze them, infinite dumpling hack.
