Michigan is a semi open primary with early voting. As long as you are registered to vote you can chose either Dem or Rep ballot for the primary but not both. You are not locked into that party for the general and are able to freely vote for who you want reguardless of the party in the general.

This is incorrect. Write-ins do not get recorded or tallied. Organizers are asking people to fill in the formal ‘uncommitted’ option.
This made me a little curious about my states primary, Florida Dems just cancelled it entirely. Democracy!
