We may have never met, but we have one thing in common. We may be on different continents, but we’re together in this: We’re not drinking today.
If you want to join us and not drink today you’re welcome!
If you have already drunk today, please come back tomorrow, and good luck!
Feel free to share how your day is going, if you have any struggles, when things are going well, thoughts about things you want to change, etc.
A week done. Actually went to the pub last night to meet some old friends. While we have drunk together before the relationship is based on long distance cycling so we’re comfortable sober together. Everyone else had a few but I stuck to 0% IPA and had a great time. Full memories including agreeing to getting a bike out soon (eek). Proved to myself I can do this. IWNDWYT
Awesome, I’m proud of you!
I’ve been focusing on integrating journaling and meditation into my daily habits to work on my anxiety and to make progress on my life goals. Just working on my anxiety has felt like a big step.
IWNDWYT!
Sounds great! What I found out, and I think many others had similar experiences, was that my anxiety got much worse when I quit drinking. Because I didn’t have alcohol to self-medicate and kill it. However, being sober also gave me the clarity to deal with what caused it, so I just wanted to say that it’s great that you’re working on it!
Yeah, I think I used drinking to numb feelings of anxiety and depression, and quitting has made them surface up much more. It feels like I’m able to process them much better now, and don’t make things worse with bad decisions, worse health, etc.
