So I have sympathy for Armenias position, let me say that first. Sandwiched between a hostile Turkey and Azerbaijan - both of which are now stronger. Russia seems to be mercurial in their support - of that I’m not an expert though.

I see some people talking about NATO and EU membership in order to move away from Russia and to better protect itself against Azerbaijan and Turkey, isn’t there a flaw in that plan though? Turkey will veto this until Azerbaijan has even more territorial gains against Armenia - which is small as it is. I don’t understand the rationale behind this course of action? Perhaps if it’s accepted that more chunks of Armenian territory will need to lost? Is that the thought process?

In pursuing the above does this not further alienate Russia, your only supporter of note? I say supporter and not ally for obvious reasons, they seem to support (in a sense) Armenia with these bases of theirs but they don’t seem like an ally considering the last war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

There really doesn’t seem to be an easy answer to this, there are some on here who seem quite detached from the reality of the situation. That there won’t be a significant cost to Armenia. I’m a Western European though so perhaps I take for granted my country’s security situation, I should also say for that reason I obviously have more of an affinity to Armenia (like most Europeans) than I do for Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan etc.
