“moving the goalposts” means anywhere between comparing a similar situation and allowing the natural flow of a conversation instead of letting the lib set a very narrow path for you to walk down.
Much like “virtue signalling” it’s a thought terminating cliche meant to silence criticism
It’s not even moving the goalposts. Ceasefire means fucking ceasefire.
They were doing the same thing when Trump had to go to court a couple times. It was all “where will the goalposts move now?” about him being “held accountable”. People want actual consequences, not an awkward afternoon in a courtroom where he is sentenced to pay money he will never pay.
Also, the toothless, technically correct “arrested twice” as if he was stuffed and cuffed and thrown in a cell.
Consequences are for the proles.
