If you’re gay and live in the third world, you don’t matter, unless you can be used as tool to make fun of the “backwards savages” in the third world that don’t give LGBT people rights. Western consumerism has driven ever more individual identity and the fetishization of said identity. It’s no surprise that many are incapable of universalism, intersectionality, and larger class or social analysis.
