This is a quick round up of new features and fixes with Memories v7 (the FOSS Google Photos alternative that runs over Nextcloud)

Custom Cover Images
This has been a long awaited feature! You can now set cover images for albums, places, people and tags from one of the photos in the particular cluster.
This update also fixes a recurring issue with cache invalidation for cover images. If you move an image out of a cluster, the cover will be updated automatically now.
Direct upload through web interface
You can now upload files to folders through the Memories app itself! (another long awaited feature)
Performance Improvements
Reverse geocoding in particular is now 100x faster on some platforms (Postgres and MySQL, no change for MariaDB users). You will need to run occ memories:places-setup once again after the update to re-enable the “Places” tab. Your data will not be affected.
Other smaller features
- Hide files starting with . in the timeline
- Support for 3GP videos
- Option to show metadata in slideshow
- Improve UX of image editor especially on mobile
- Android app is now available on F-Droid
