Berrios spinning a no no so far in the 5th. He’s doing well.
Ah f. Just jinxed it.
Edit: Yeah Vladdy!!!
An update on the wild card race: It sounds like we’ll get Bo back tomorrow (Saturday). Meanwhile, we’re still 0.5 games up on the Ms and 3 and 5.5 games back of the Astros and Rays, respectively. We basically haven’t lost or gained ground. I think that’s pretty good, considering KK and Jano are missing from the lineup, and DeJong hasn’t hit well. Also, Biggio is like our 4th or 5th best hitter right now, which no one expected at the start of the year. Hopefully with Bo back we can move up to the 1st or 2nd wildcard spot. As much as I’d love to face the Twinkies first round, 3rd spot doesn’t feel safe if Ms are 0.5 games behind
Saw on sportnet central a couple hours ago that almost everyone is expected back very soon. Bichette, Chapman, Richards, kiermaier, and Chad green all possible to make their comeback in the series vs the reds.
Kiermaier and Richards are now officially back for tonight.
And Chapman as well, lineup just posted with him at 3rd!
Excellent, how very exciting! Very important depth for out lineup and bullpen. This should be a fun series, but the Orioles next should really tell us things about our team
They lost another winnable game :(
Ugh what an outcome. This sucks and if we are now out of the wild card spot… sucks even more.
It’s been all pitching so far! 4 hits and 0 runs combined for both teams at the 7th inning stretch
A key stat was mentioned on the TV broadcast the other night. Daulton Varsho leads the team in times hugged by a teammate 🥰💙
A couple game notes: The Reds’ Ballpark is widely regarded, to my knowledge, as the most HR-friendly ballpark in the MLB. I wonder if Vladdy gets going, and how the Jays’ bats will look in general. The Reds lead the MLB in stolen bases and are on pace to triple their last year’s stolen base total. Let’s see how the Blue Birds fare in the stolen base prevention game! (I’d love it if Kirk and Vladdy succeed at the ‘throw behind the runner at 1st’ play. That’d be good early in the game 😈)
Vladdy was able to let the fly ball drop - the infield fly rule did not apply - and get that double play because there wasn’t a runner on 2nd (there must be runners on 1st and 2nd or bases loaded) and there was 1 or fewer outs
The fans are doing the wave, and I’m guessing Jays fans didn’t start it. I didn’t the wave was that popular outside of the Blue Jays/Toronto
