I was going to answer honey ladle. But then I thought: it might actually work as a honey ladle.
The correct answer is of course: remote cock-probe.
Georg Jensen is an old goldsmith, purveyor to the royal Danish Court for generations.
The story is the Scandinavian royalty was very much into cock-fighting back in the 1500-1600’s. It was often used as an outlet between the sibling countries and as a theater proxy war thing. It was of course best to have the most aggressive cock that would end up massacring the other King’s puny poultry. Anyways at one of these bouts, during the Royal inspection of the cocks, one of the combatants escapes its cage and gouges out the eye of King Christian IV.
Ever since it has been tradition for the ruling monarch to carry a long stick to probe the cocks with. Georg Jensen continues this tradition by releasing a new design to the public every year. As you know it has become smaller and more symbolic over the years. The royalty of course do not engage in cock-fights anymore, but it’s… Well a funny little tradition.
It’s a niche collectors item, sometimes used as a semi-expensive gift for when you don’t know what to give as a present.

As far as I can tell, it says “Georg Jensen, Denmark”. Georg Jensen is a famous designer and jeweler in/from Denmark.

Google: Georg Jensen lysholdersæt.
Put a candle into the curly spiral thingy on top, and use the hook under it to put it on a branch of a dead, dry Christmas tree. Put around 20 of these on your tree and dance around it, knocking into the candles once in a while.
Not a real Danish Christmas without a lil fire hazard.

It would actually make a weird kinda sense.
If you’re not familliar with traditional Danish fire-hazards this “cola de gallo” would be a great stirrer for long drinks. You could rest the hook on the rim to keep it from falling into the drink and put gsrnish in the spiral.

You could place it in the garden orange tree and put a candle on it for evening sit-arounds. Y luego tienes el “hygge” danés.

In Denmark, many if not most have transitioned from paraffin candles on the Christmas tree to electric lighting to reduce the fire hazard, but 70 years ago or so, every single Christmas tree was lit with live candles and Georg Jensen would release new candle holders for the Christmas Tree every year

We still use both. Electric lighting most of the time, but when we do dancing around the tree we light the candles and turn on the electric lights. So cosy!

No one is using electric lights. Also, these candle light holders came out in like the 1990s, far from 70 years ago.

Lots of people use electric lights on their christmas trees. I don’t know when Georg Jensen started their tradition of new annual christmas tree candle holders, but the concept of live candles on the Christmas tree far predates Georg Jensen.

70? My entire family used real candles when I was a kid, and I’m only 40, since I can still remember it that means it must have been less than 35 years ago or so, maybe 30.

My parents have a bunch of these with electric lights and have it lit basically the entire time the tree is up. Prettiest night light ever.

The Christmas tree must be lit from it is decorated and until you throw it out.

That can’t be true. It’s got to be a (very) small minority of established family households that use electric lighting on their juletræ!

Speak for yourself, you wuss. It’s not Christmas unless you come dangerously close to calling the emergency services at least thrice - an ambulance for overeating, a fire engine for the candles, and a police car for the drunken brawl.

I think, that may be a regional thing. Here in Copenhagen, most of us are able to celebrate things without a need for requesting blue disco lights.

I did say “most of us”. I thought this style of celebration was much more popular in Jylland and Udkantsdanmark, but won’t rule out, that it also occurs in Copenhagen.
Muriana at 2023-08-18 23:06:05+00:00 ID:

It’s funny, because I would have thought it was a province thing to go electric. Not that I inspect a lot of Christmas trees, but I dont think I’ve seen a single one with fake candles. So in the circles I move in its not a thing. And my social bubble us very concentrated around Copenhagen, for better or worse.
It just goes to show how different an experience we can have within a honestly fairly small city.

No this device is not for opening eggs for breakfast. It’s something real chicken farmers use for real hen. You see, much like humen, chickens can get constipated. Especially with the historical low protein wheat in Denmarks. So the device is for when the egg gets stuck in the chicken booty hole. It’s for getting them out. It’s called an æggehaps, which means egg grabber, but i think the eggstrapolater sounds cooler
