I have certain items of clothing that are so unbelievably soft new, but after sometimes even just ONE wash, they become itchy and almost crunchy. After multiple washes, my SO with sensory issues can’t doesn’t like to wear them any longer. One such item example is using a polyester/spandex blend, and many are something like this. I follow the instructions exactly on the tag… I’ve tried all manner of things based on google:
- washing on delicate, inside out, like colors, like fabrics
- fabric softener/no fabric softener
- small loads
- hang dry/tumble dry low
- different amounts of detergent, different types of detergent
Nothing seems to help. I use a variety of different detergents; original tide, coldwater tide. I’ve tried additions like Oxiclean, washing soda, dryer balls.
The water hardness where I live is considered hard at 9 gpg. I don’t have a water softener. Is this what could be causing it?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
