I’m not even American, so it doesn’t affect me directly, but I am scared to death of a Trump presidency.

I am one of those people here who think that Biden is a far more competent executor of imperialist policies compared to Trump, but what I am even more afraid of is the early death of nascent left wing movements in America.

I am reminded of how the KPD getting its leaders murdered by Freikorps thugs during the Spartacist uprising (mind you, a much stronger party than any leftist movement in America today), and how its continued suppression paved the way to Nazi Germany.

Project 2025 will effectively embolden fascist thugs in America to do the same to the left wing movements, many of which are still in their cradle, and the death of leftist movements in their infancies will inevitably pave the way to a fascist America and undo many of the progress that had been made over decades.

The world cannot afford a fascist America. Imagine Hitler with nukes. The world will have to pay a much, much larger price as a result.

On this reasoning alone, I believe that Trump needs to be stopped at all cost. But many here have disagreed with me, and I need you to persuade me why I shouldn’t be afraid of Project 2025 at all. Even if the chance of that happening is 10%, I’m still not ready to gamble with it.

(I’m not saying we have to support Biden, I believe it is somewhat inevitable, I’m saying that we have to buy ourselves as much time as possible, even if it means strategic voting, to build a resilient leftist movement while delaying the inevitable for as long as we can.)

this user has a long history of trolling with turboliberal bits using the phrase “adult in the room”, I’m not convinced this isn’t another instance of it

To clarify, this post is not a bit, and I didn’t even realize I have a reputation for that lol (and yes I admit that I did have a bit of fun with that sometimes).

The only thing that I’d say I’m being slightly disingenuous here is that I still believe Biden will win in November (though his chances are slipping for sure), but that will only bring about the worst kind of liberal rub-in-your-face reaction and leading to the Democrats finally abandoning any pretense of pandering to the left and the progressives, having realized that they do not need the support from the left at all.

In other words, I am very concerned about the fate of leftist movement in the US. If Trump wins, the left is screwed. If Biden wins but without leftist support, then the left is screwed also. Screwed as in they will let the fascist thugs commit violence against the left and not holding them back. There is no easy way out from my view.

Biden won with leftist support, and look where that got them. He crushed unions, he’s doing a genocide, he’s ramped up deportations, he’s increased the budget of cops and the military, he mishandled COVID. There’s a reason why so many leftists have withdrawn their support and it’s because he was worse or as bad as trump was for them.

The bits were very obvious (the “Adults in the Room” was to make them even more obvious). This post is very, very different, the user is engaging only to gather others’ viewpoints.

Kaplya had only asked questions stemming from their current viewpoint, explaining their reasoning; their further questions continue to stay on topic, they have clearly stated that they want to understand more and don’t want a struggle session, and involved Molotov-Ribbentrop pact for an example of buying time (!). I do not think that a liberal can do all of this while retaining liberal views.
