My local nursery just sent out an email saying the first tomatoes are in but warned that it is still too cold to plant them outside (my understanding is early May is usually the absolutely earliest for tomatoes). Why would people be buying them then? The way the email was phrased seemed like there would be a pretty big demand for these early tomatoes.

I tried to start my own but most have failed. It looks like there’s a big plant sale in early May put on by a local gardening organization so I was going to pick my starts up then.
