Workers at Manitoba Public Insurance have 'overwhelmingly' voted in favour of strike action, the Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union (MGEU) says.
I definitely haven’t seen food literally double or triple. It’s gone up a lot, but not that much.
The inflation number uses a weighted “basket” of goods, but housing is the biggest part of it and housing hasn’t gone up by that much. Not sure about Manitoba as the article is from, but for much of Ontario, rent controls prevent large rent increases (though sadly, newer buildings are exempt from rent controls, so we’re only gonna see more people who are unprotected).

In February of 2020, a Wendy’s Single was $3 CAD. Yesterday they were $6.99.
That’s not 8%.
