All of these weird bruises just began to appear on my legs; nowhere else. I woke up, went about my day, and then began to notice bruises starting to form when I took my break to use the bathroom at work.
Note: I have been moving things out of storage lately, to sell online (all part of my cat’s medical fundraiser). I didn’t think I bumped into any furniture in the process, though.
It could also be vitamin k deficiency, my wife had to supplement vitamin k for a bit when she started bruising easily.
Maybe, but I eat a lot of spinach. Spinach has a lot of vitamin k.
You probably just bumped into something without noticing, it’s probably nothing to worry about.
Though bruises appearing out of nowhere, by themselve, may indicate a serious illness (I’m not gonna mention it so you don’t get spooked), so it’s best to see a doctor and do some blood work, including D-Dimers.
What are D-Dimers?
I was curious as well, so I did the Google:
D-dimer is a protein fragment (small piece) that’s made when a blood clot dissolves in your body. D-dimer isn’t usually found in your blood unless your body is making or breaking up blood clots.
Ah, okay. Thank you.
I am anemic and bruise easily. It’s a quick blood test, but it’s easily rectified if that’s the cause.
I would see your PCP. It’s not unusual to bruise after moving a bunch of stuff, however if you didn’t notice any bumps while moving the furniture, it may be that you are anemic or something. If you menstruate or have nosebleeds the bleeding can make it worse. IME you don’t necessarily need to take a supplement at this point (usually iron) but your doc will probably want to at least monitor in case it worsens over time.
If you can’t afford to go to a doctor, and you’re open to it, try to donate blood and they should tell you your iron scores. It’s better to see your doc of course (there may be other things to test) but I know how it is without money, at least in the US.
I think I will. I just donated blood this month and my hemoglobin looked good. It was 12.4, I think.
I like PCP.
It’s kind of uncommon but it’s really fun.
The poor man’s ketamine, isn’t it?
No, ketamine is rich man’s PCP obviously.
I bruise so easily. I typically have 10+ bruises on my arms and legs at any given time. I don’t notice bumping into things much, my pain tolerance is kinda high.
Reading some of the replies is making me think I should see a doctor. I haven’t seen one in a few years.
Did you lift weights the day before? Perhaps with dumbbells?
This was my thought too. I frequently bruise from my elbows when i dumbbell.
There are little ones on my left thigh that appeared at the same time, too.
And also, my right calf.
The only bruising you have is on the front of your legs? Do you feel ok/normal?
Actually, I found some bruises on the sides of my abdomen, too. I feel okay. I’ve been a little tired, but that’s because I’ve been so busy with work, trying to get in shape, and taking my cat to several vets for medical help. I’m probably okay. It’s just weird.
Given what you’re describing, this sounds a lot like my wife’s issues with anemia. It’s nothing super major, but worth looking into with your doctor. Usually can find out with a basic blood test.
I was just tested for that this month when the blood bank checked my hemoglobin levels. I’m not anemic.
