Which part of this image is the “freedom”?

Conservative politicians are a disease, these are the scars of that illness defacing the body ferociously and actively since Nixon.

I’m not entirely sure how hashtags render in Lemmy, but I added that one because I think fundamentally it’s what the picture is about: Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, press freedom, freedom from arbitrary violence.

Of course it’s a case of freedom being infringed upon, but I nevertheless think it’s a central theme.

NEW YORK - The city’s major police unions forcefully endorsed Donald Trump’s failed bid for re-election.

"In the New York City PBA, Mr. President you earn the endorsement and you’ve earned this endorsement,” said Patrick Lynch, president of the Police Benevolent Association.

"I’m proud to give it,” he said in August.

But, Joe Biden won decisively in the city, putting the police unions and the officers they represent on the opposite side of the political fence from the majority of New Yorkers they serve.

Trump Picks Up Police Support Even As He Glorifies Those Who Assaulted Police On Jan. 6

Michael Fanone, a former metro police officer who on Jan. 6 was attacked with a stun gun by a Trump follower until he suffered a heart attack, said the reason is as simple as it is disturbing: “Lots of officers are ideologically aligned with the people who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6,” he said. “I get more threatening phone calls from people who identify as police officers than anyone else. We’ve been dismissed and vilified by even our police union.”
