Never played armored core before, but I’ve adored every FromSoft game since DeS on PS3 so am incredibly excited. Anybody else in the same boat?

You’re in for a treat. I’ve poured countless hours into AC customization since the PS2 era, and no other mech game has come close to that level of satisfaction from a perfect build mastering a complex mission. That + the Soulsborne combat mechanics really looks like the best of both worlds
