"BREAKING: The Chicago Bulls are trading two-time All-Defensive guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Josh Giddey, sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/V3t12MA3Uo" via Adrian Wojnarowski on Twitter
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the trade did not include any draft compensation and was a “straight-up swap.”
Must be because he’s in his last year of his deal but yeah feels like they could’ve gotten more. Especially with the deals timing it feels like he wasn’t even shopped around?
I don’t think Giddey straight up is a bad deal for Bulls at all. Caruso is a good role player. Strong defensive guard. Giddey is a tall point guard who is a match up problem with more upside. Bulls have a PG in Ball also. I’m guessing Bulls don’t think Ball is going to be durable EVER in his career. But if he’s available, he and Giddey will play backcourt similar to what OKC had. That’s their future backcourt, which when healthy is not bad.
They said they got Giddey to replace Alonzo’s playmaking. I don’t think they’re counting on Lonzo to be the player he was before even if he does make it back.
Chicago better get some picks with this or it’s a real WTF move. Supposedly they could have had a top ten pick at the deadline.

absolutely insane. the only explanation is that Chicago is extremely high on giddey for some reason.
Chicago’s FO is perfect for teaching other FOs what not to do. This trade makes no sense for them! However, good on OKC. They’re gonna be wild!
