Gustav arrived Tuesday morning after being found by a contractor at Mosquito Creek Marina. The contractor noticed a struggling seal pup in the water off the dock. The pup, estimated to be only a few hours old, was struggling to stay afloat with a full placenta still attached. The mother was nowhere to be found.

Named after a character from PC ‘Game of the Year’ 2023 - Baldur’s Gate 3.

Update from 2024-06-03

Gustav’s condition has improved enough that he has moved out of the Hospital and into the Quarantine tent! He still has a long recovery ahead but he is getting stronger

Every seal that arrives at the rescue centre is placed in a tub under quarantine. This is the first temporary home for each new arrival, where they remain for at least 14 days before they are moved to a larger tub.
