I was looking to self-host my own version of Invidious/Materialious, however for now it seems a little much to take on so I am kicking that can down the road lol.

In the meantime, I noticed that there are public hosted servers for Materialious. This doesn’t exist on iOS it seems but I found Yattee which does!

As far as I can tell Yattee is totally public server-wise. But you can make accounts on both public Materialious instances and also on Yattee.

Privacy doesn’t seem a concern if I was selfhosting, as I would own all my data, but my Question is:

How safe is having an account on Yattee? Like where is all my data being held, my history and subscriptions etc. Especially with importing my YouTube Takeout data like my subscriptions, history, playlists etc. Who actually owns that data? Who is hosting these servers?

Until I can host my own I would like to use Piped / Yattee, but I’d just like to have a lil better understanding of where my data is going if I am not going to own it myself.

(-- Speaking of kicking the can down the road, if anyone knows any good guides on setting up Invidious/Materialious on Unraid, that’d be much appreciated! I don’t plan on using any proxy managers or anything so, if that’s a requirement then I think that can is gonna be kept on kickin’ for now haha)
