That seems like something they should’ve waited to reveal during the movie, like had some misdirection about RDJ just being in it for a flashback or a recorded video, just downplay it and make it seem small. Then bust the revelation out midway through the movie.

I’m sure they considered that possibility. But imagine the revenue. RDJ and Doom are both huge draws. Revealing them both in advance gets you more makes money gesture

but you can do that in other ways in-universe as they did with thanos and other upcoming characters. its very un-marvel.

I found this post browsing All. I have had significant superhero fatigue right after infinity war part 2, after a whole decade of mild disbelief at how huge these once-niche characters have become.

This headline definitely grabbed my attention, and as you said, the fact that they’re spoiling that he’s going to play Doom is why I checked this thread.

        revealing them both

Even mentioning them as separate things wouldn’t have made me look. Their marketing machine is definitely working overtime to get the attention of people burned out on superhero movies.

I haven’t consumed a single piece of Marvel content since Endgame, and this announcement does nothing for me. The marketing machine needs to step up its game.

I don’t understand how two people commenting “this announcement does not make me want to see the movie it’s announcing” means the “marketing machine is working overtime”. That seems like a marketing failure to me.

I’m not really burned out on superhero movies per se, I got burned out on Disney’s shitty writing. It’s just endemic to everything they do anymore, whether it’s Marvel or Star Wars or anything. Kid movies usually get a pass cause they’re whatever, but it’s almost insulting to watch media that makes the barest attempts at telling a coherent story. Maybe <10% of what they put out is “quality”, the rest just ends up being absolute drivel. I just got tired of getting mad at how bad the writing was while watching their stuff.

It’s almost formulaic at times, they just sort of move from one plot point to another with the barest of logic. You can see characters doing dumb things solely in order to move the plot forward to the next scene. I’m not expecting Shakespeare, but it’s almost like Disney’s scripts are actually written by an AI, maybe She-Hulk wasn’t that far off the mark.

I guess, that was not an option after all the data leaked from Disney🤔
