I’m self-learning for those two certificates with Cantrill material.
I’m curious about the length of your journey to get those certificates. How do you pace yourself to learn with your job and life?
I prepared and practiced for about a month before taking the exam.
Wow, you’re so fast. I guess you’ve already had some experience beforehand before taking the exam.
Haha, true. I was working with aws for quite a while before I took the exam. So all I had to do was just go through material and prepare on architecture level questions. Remaining was already part of my regular work so it helped.
Wishing you a best of luck for your exam preparation.
It took me approximately three months to prepare and pass the exam. The study materials that I found most helpful were the official AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate exam guide, online video tutorials, and practice exams. I had some prior experience with AWS, mainly in deploying and managing EC2 instances and S3 storage, but the certification helped me gain a more comprehensive understanding of various AWS services.
Same situation. I’ve some prior experience with AWS but not so deep. So I’ve decided to take the exam to have some “reasons” to dive deeper to the cloud architecture.
I don’t really like some topics (e.g. serverless, cloud formation, proprietary services) but networking and security (e.g. IAM) are ubiquitous so I think it’s worth it to spend some blood and dime to learn properly.
Anyway, thank you for your input. I guess it will take approximately 3 months for me too.
It took me approximately two months for the Associate level and an additional three months for the Professional level. The most challenging concept for me was understanding VPC peering and designing secure network architectures. I had to spend extra time practicing and experimenting with different scenarios.
