The more things are added in the continuity, Obi-wan becomes a weirder character.

Episode 5’s retcon of Anakin Skywalker turns him into a liar. 6’s retcon of Leia makes him into an even greater liar. Maybe he had his reasons to lie that hard, but yeesh.

Then we get to the prequels. He is warned that the senate is led by a sith lord. Pretty much ignores it. Our dude also trains space Hitler despite initial protests on picking up “another pathetic lifeform”.

Episode 3: He is given the chance to kill him, can’t do it. Yet in episode 5 and 6 Obi is egging Luke on to kill his own father.

With the Obi-wan series we are given even more meat to this with him once more backing out from killing a defenseless Anakin/Vader.

With all that said, Obi remains my favorite. There is some dissonance in the story, but I like to think that we are viewing the history of Star Wars through several accounts, which lends to different perspectives.
