Earlier this week, we got rumors that AMD is rushing in the Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-core/16-thread "Zen 5" processor with 3D V-cache for a late-October debut. The 9800X3D succeeds the popular 7800X3D, and AMD probably hopes it will have a competitive gaming processor in time for Intel's Core Ultra 2-serie...
Ah, that is a nice upgrade. Having half the chip with less cache was kinda…weird. Really made the single CCD chips (the 6 and 8 core variants) the best option, as one didn’t have to think about what cores were fast and which ones weren’t.
It was a neat concept having “the best of both worlds” the problem really was just with the scheduler. If Microsoft could fix their scheduler then it would be amazing. But it’s M$ so they won’t.
Also still having two CCDs in general is kind of an issue in windows. I’ll be sticking with the single CCD CPUs for any gaming machines.
Do you know how things are on Linux for this, by any chance?
