I’m not one of the withhold-voting, or vote 3rd party people, but I think it’s probably driven by deep moral disgust of both parties preventing people from being able to willingly vote for Hitler 1 over Hitler 2. As an extreme example (which probably is the case for some Americans, but not “significant electorally”), if I was a Palestinian-American, and had many family members killed by weapons supplied under Biden’s orders, I probably wouldn’t be able to bring myself to vote for his number-2, even if I thought it was the lesser-evil. People have different levels of emotional empathy, and different principles and philosophies. Refusing to participate in an unjust system is a valid stance.

Most, if not all, of them do. The majority of them are just sowing dissent.

If others are like me, we’re just getting tired of explaining this shit over and over and over…

But the funny thing is, these idiots think they’re helping Trump/hurting Harris, when in reality, all they are doing is giving more attention to the explanations that we’ve all been typing out over and over and over (i.e. the actual reality of our situation).

When you answer that kind of question in a public forum, it’s often more about others seeing it and learning/understanding something, than it is about convincing the obvious troll of something when they probably don’t even believe the thing they said in the first place.

So the joke’s on them, they’ve just been making sure that everybody who visits this site understands that voting for a third party candidate in this election (or not voting) is a vote for Trump and a vote to give Netanyahu carte blanche to expand the ongoing genocide of Palestinians.

I’d say “Russian trolls”, but there’s no saying they are Russian. The view on Lemmy a few months ago was pretty homogenous - whatever happens, Kamala is lightyears ahead of Trump on anything related to sanity. Then suddenly the “Jill Stein is a russian shill” narrative came, followed by “A vote for Kamala is a vote for genocide” (while everything points to the fact that Kamala is the best option for deescalation as far as the US ballot box options go).

The take months ago was “how dare you say anything negative about Biden, he needs to win even if it seems obvious he is gonna lose and we will blame other leftists instead of Republicans!”

Followed by: “oh my god we were so right to get rid of him Kamala is a saint who will fix all of it and be nothing like Biden and we knew this was needed but there is no other choice needed so why talk about it”

To now: “what do you mean we never talked about things?! We did it your way and got the best candidate ever who will do exactly as Biden did with even more reaching across the aisle for Republican support. How dare you be upset about it now! You had plenty of time to complain that last time we definitely didn’t ignore you”

I think the people pointing out the genocide have it easiest cause they have had a single script and point for the last year that Israel has been trying to finish off their ghettos.
