The proportions of Mace Windu’s forehead and chin stick out as incorrect
Reminds me of complaints about characters showing up in live action for the first time and people complained that they don’t look exactly like their Clone Wars versions.
I agree, but also,
That guy looks cool, imposing, badass.
That guy looks like a dork.
The real life actor played the part well, but he looked silly. I understand they were limited in what they could do, and a tall head might have looked even worse, but what they did put together just didn’t quite work.
Yeah not all characters translated as good to live action as others.
But perhaps these were constrained by other factors, like budget or time or whatever else was going on. Like a few more things in the Kenobi show felt weirdly low-budget, while other things in the same show seemed very high-budget, it was all over the place.
They could’ve gone for a more similar look like the ones in ROTS, but I’m not sure how well that one would hold up in longer scenes.
That said, a lot of the animated characters were based off live-action actors, and like the OP example they don’t look like their live-action models much and they’re very heavily stylized. The Inquisitor was an animated-only character, so they had a lot of liberty with his design, that’s probably harder to translate back to live-action. Loved the actor though, did a marvelous job of translating the Inquisitors mannerisms.

Dooku isn’t great either but no where as bad as Mace Windu.
It’s cool that humans have no problems interpreting cartoon depictions of faces which are so grotesquely exaggerated.
