largely waiting and keeping the ship alive, but what were they waiting for?Why didn’t they send reboot bodies up to the ship and work remotely?

To be generous to the writers:
Equipment required for that side is heavier, and/or requires more power/support than humans
But we haven’t seen anything about thatLol, good point indeed, haven’t thought of that.
Don’t be too generous to writers as they couldn’t be bothered to make this story slightly more coherent ;)
