Brilliant pitching by Bryce Miller and White Sox starter Lance Lynn was the story of the third game in the series. The Mariners helped Lynn set a new personal record and tie a team record of 16 strikeouts in a game. But two of the Mariners’ four hits against Lynn came in the same inning, bringing two runners across. A Jarred Kelenic triple with the bases loaded in the 8th inning sealed the game and series win for the Mariners. Bryce Miller went 7 innings, allowing only 4 hits, 1 run, and no walks.
With the win, the Mariners come back to .500 before heading to New York to take on the Yankees. In the race for the division, the Rangers maintained their lead and Shohei Ohtani personally willed the Angels to pull ahead of the struggling Astros.
