Some users of the excellent DroidHole Android client for Pi-Hole had noticed that the developer’s GitHub account and all associated repos were giving 404 errors. This has unfortunately happened before (see the previous Reddit thread) multiple times, and after reaching out to the developer he said he has no idea why his account has been taken down, but it has now been (reportedly) permanently removed from GitHub.
His repos are now located at his GitLab page. When I asked what the Pi-Hole community could do to help, he said the only thing that would be helpful at this point was if someone has a direct contact at GitHub that he can work with as he has exhausted his support options. It sounds like he would prefer to develop on GitHub but has just run into a hurdle he can’t overcome after a lot of struggles in the past. DM me if you know someone who could help him!
I asked specifically if there was anything we could do to pitch in financially, and since his GitHub account is inactivated he directed me to his PayPal page. In addition to his awesome Android client for Pi-Hole, he also maintains some other great open source projects for mobile devices including a mobile Linkwarden client, an AdGuard home manager similar to DroidHole, etc. If you can, this is an awesome open source developer to support!
