I gotta tell you folks, after reading various discussions on Lemmy the past few days while also being an existing Bluesky user -
Mastodon and Lemmy seem to be having this having this really intense mean-girls gossipfest about Bluesky and Threads, meanwhile Bluesky is just doing its own thing, oblivious to Threads or all the mean-girls stuff. Everyone over there mostly just excited about more new users if they’ve commented on it at all, IME.
IMO, it’s closer to this meme, but still a loose fit. I know Threads isn’t in the picture, that’s also accurate. Whatever Threads is off doing is… whatever Threads is off doing.
It’s be nice to get more users to Lemmy instead of another platform, but I’m more of a link-aggregator guy than a microblog kinda guy, so I’m glad there’s a microblog tool out there competing with Xitter.
I almost never see Mastodon or Threads mentioned at all, but I suppose that is testament to how different one person’s Bluesky experience can be to another’s with feeds etc.
That’s why I’m finding these discussions here kind of amusing.
It feels like Lemmy is over here going “What do you think of Mastodon and Threads, Bluesky?! Huh?!”
And Bluesky is all “I really don’t think of them.”

Almost perfect, just…

I’ve seen more shit talking on Bluesky about Mastodon than Threads, to be honest.
