Have you not been paying attention? The world is in a pretty dire state, maybe letting so many “average” people run things is part of how we got here.

I’m actually gonna agree. I think the average person is pretty good and the problem with our current society is that we’ve convinced ourselves that power-hungry sociopaths are good at running our society. If the average person stepped up to replace those positions I think our society wouldn’t be as bad

I failed to consider this fact.

But seriously I mean that the average person is better than we think

I’ll respectfully disagree here. You’re trying to conflate worthiness with goodness. Not all that is worthy is good. While being average is indeed worthy of love and appreciation, it’s not optimal and not “good”. 75 years ago being average would get you a nice life. Being young and average today might get you love and respect, but it won’t get you anything else except a shitload of college debt and a life of budgeting, where 2 weeks yearly holiday is considered radical. Pick something in life, get off your ass, and become excellent at it.

The problem here is - we can’t get past being average if we are not ok with it. We should aim higher without a question. But reach average before going beyond and be ok with average so that your own mind allows you to proceed. That was my thought at least.
