I recently installed some IP cameras for my brother. I decided to go with cat5e UV outdoor cable since it regularly gets to 40°c and was worried about the cable getting cooked in the conduit and roof I also had to run it next to electrical wire in some spots. The patch panel and rj45 weren’t a problem but when it came to bonding the cabinet and patch panel to a proper ground source I was stump. In South Africa our walls are made from bricks and power outlets are chiseled out and have a steel conduit running up into the attic. The conduits are grounded using wire that feeds back to the distribution board of the house. I can’t find a clear answer online that says I can or can’t run a wire from the cabinet to one of those steel conduits in the roof. Would I be able to use on those or should I connect it to a water pipe in the attic that goes underground or can I just use a ground from a electrical outlet?
