In celebration of the show’s thirtieth anniversary, Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment (say that three times fast) is releasing the series on Blu-ray this December. All 110 episodes have been remastered in HD, and the set also includes Babylon 5‘s pilot movie, The Gathering.

The set will be available December 5, 2023 at your favorite retailer and, in the U.S., will cost you $99.99 for 4,730 minutes of Babylon 5 goodness.
I was convinced this was technically impossible without redoing all the CGI from scratch (there was even a fan effort to create all the models). I have questions…
According to The Digital Bits, the series was shot on film, so anything live action was scanned at 4K and down sampled to HD. As the original CG shots were created in SD, they’ve been upscaled to HD.
Yes, but it had been suggested that even upscaling would be difficult. I’ve spoken to someone who suggests it might be AI upscaling.
Perhaps all it really took was for the individual at WB who hates B5 to sling their hook.
