    This has no bearing on my life whatsoever but a developer releasing a QoL update after 15 years is pretty cool and great marketing.

      This doesn’t invalidate your point, but DF is still under active development. The game has been worked on consistently since the early aughts.

        Adding more info, it just got released on Steam a year back, as a paid version with actual graphics. You can get the free ASCII version from the website still, AFAIK.

      Check out Nethack. Been worked on since the 80’s.

        Nethack is open source and maintained by the community though, unlike DF which is still under Tarn the original dev.
