This Superman soars—not by outmuscling Cavill’s brooding demigod or remaking Christopher Reeve’s gentle icon, but by capturing the sense of wonder that first hooked me as a child. When I watched Christopher Reeve’s Superman all those years ago, I felt the awe of a world made bright by heroes. Now, watching Corenswet’s take with my seven-year-old daughter, I can see her experiencing that same wide-eyed excitement. Gunn’s film hands the magic down—a perfect introduction for a new generation, every bit as joyous and inviting as it was for mine.
Just saw it yesterday and liked it more than I didn’t. I think the actor playing Lex really dropped the ball, just never felt like a real character. His speech near the end felt really forced. Lex strikes me as a tough character to portray on the screen but others have done it better.
Nathan Fillion and the dog really stole the show, great to see the justice gang, great to see the handful of other character cameos. Superman’s little speech at the end really hit great for me. I think they did a great job staying true to his character. Certainly worth a watch.
I really like Nicholas Hoult, just not as Lex. He just looks so innocent and it felt like he was trying too hard to be mean.
