Techy geek. Dad of an amazing daughter and a crazy dog.
What’s rule 1?
Haha yeah I was slightly confused why I wanted to play a different massive sprawling rpg but 🤷🏻♂️
I was playing a ton of Baldur’s Gate 3, but I decided I needed a break on it after getting to Act 3. I’m currently playing Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire for the first time and enjoying it.
I use Garuda and love it, but I also don’t think it’s the best for a first Linux distro, unless you’re good with needing to consistently use the command line for things, and you are interested in learning more about Linux and want a distro that requires you to occasionally get your hands dirty.
From what I’ve seen, Linux Mint is a great first distro. If you want something that’s more purposed to gaming, then Nobara is great. It’s made by GloriousEggroll, who makes Proton-GE. It’s not going to be as new-user friendly as Mint, but more so than Garuda.
False alarm everyone. I run Garuda but have been playing around with Nobara and I filled it out on both distros on the same machine. Sorry to get everyone’s hopes up.
This ^^. It turns out that Elon is just a narcissistic idiot who doesn’t actually have good business sense, at least in the software world. The types of things he’s been trying are better explained as someone who wants Twitter to make more money but doesn’t understand how people actually think and behave and doesn’t realize that these decisions will alienate users and destroy the product. Spez decisions seem similar, although on the whole I think he’s less of a people idiot than Elon, and is probably just under tons of pressure to improve the financials right now and is making bad short-sighted decisions as a result.
American here: I fully accept that Monday as first day of the week makes more logical sense, but my brain can’t reverse years of programming. I get very confused and make mistakes if I look at a calendar that starts on Monday.
I randomly messaged a former colleague who I haven’t talked to in 7 years, which is not the kind of thing I normally do, and I got an excited reply a day later.
Mistborn: The Final Empire! If I’m not mistaken, “heist book in fantasy setting” is literally one of the main things that inspired Brandon Sanderson to write this.
Former linguistics grad student here: The meaning of “literal” is changing, and sentences like “That guy is literally 500 years old” are correct.
Very cool. I might have to go look up how that even works. Thanks for sharing!
Can I ask what you do to make that living? An ex of mine spent some time in SL a few years ago so I got to experience some of it mostly second hand. Such a fascinating place.
Yep, agreed. I’ve signed multiple NDAs at my company recently just to evaluate some tools that have been on the market for years. It’s not what people seem to think it is.
I’m genuinely confused why so many people are reacting so quickly to this news like it’s the end of Mastodon. We can’t conclude anything just by virtue of the fact that he signed an NDA. We don’t know the terms of the NDA. It could simply be that he can’t talk about Meta’s specific plans.
More to the point, as the originator of the network and the one in charge of the source code, I feel like it’s his responsibility to be informed of what companies like Meta are planning to do. If an NDA is the price of admission to that knowledge, and provided that the terms aren’t egregious, he should go.
Wow you invented the fediverse and you didn’t even know it!
Can I ask why he wouldn’t use Signal?
