I’m not particularly excited about this upcoming dumpster fire…Already took it off my Wishlist.

Just a dude on the internet, looking for content and fun! I love Linux, gaming, writing, reading, music, anime, walks, and occasionally movies too. Chronically ill and anxious too, that makes life quite interesting…At times.

Man, that sounds like the dream right there! I want a safe, predictable life so my creativity can flourish. 😌
LostWanderer@fedia.ioto Videos@lemmy.world•The Forgotten Prehistoric War That Killed 95% Of All Men12·4 天前The video itself looks like slop with a bad title…However, there is an article that is discussing a theory researchers came up with: Something Weird Happened to Men 7,000 Years Ago, And We Finally Know Why this article provides a link to this paper: Cultural hitchhiking and competition between patrilineal kin groups explain the post-Neolithic Y-chromosome bottleneck
We’ll never know the real cause, as there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding these types of finds in human DNA; the definitive evidence has long been lost to the ravages of time. At best there is room for speculation and no concrete answer to be found.

LostWanderer@fedia.ioto Canada@lemmy.ca•Most Canadians now see US as a ‘threat,’ study reveals12·4 天前As an American, I agree that more places should see America as a threat instead of an ally. Since the unhinged masses managed to elect a narcissist as president who will do “insert whatever baffling or dangerous thing” for payment/tribute.

I love it when the Turn-off Adblocker prompt has a, “I will not turn off AdBlock or I will not support you” text. I click the fuck out of that. Every ad has a chance of being a malicious one that hijacks my control of the browser (these are really prevalent on mobile).
I’ve always had a stove top kettle, there was no reason to boil water in the microwave for tea. Up until a few years ago, I did not have a microwave. I prefer the even temperature of water boiled in a kettle.
LostWanderer@fedia.ioto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you use autocorect on your devices? Why or why not?3·6 天前I do! Being reasonably accurate as possible when typing is something that I value! It helps, as sometimes I am a goose on the loose, and don’t proofread my sentences before posting. The obvious errors are at least caught before they become final.
I mostly have problems with the Discover Store not letting me download themes, it will crash out hard! I haven’t noticed many more issues outside of that on KDE 6.4.
LostWanderer@fedia.ioto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What's up with the sudden increase in AI slop?255·7 天前They are flooding the zone, there are countless pro-AI generated content instances. It’s like playing whack-a-mole, I often downvote obvious and human-altered slop (it’s all slop to me). Unfortunately, there are going to be images that have positive votes despite the general dislike of said AI-slop, especially because I tend to block those slop instances these days. Naturally, most of it is objectifying women (something I don’t want to see anyway) so those will naturally get a lot of votes because people weren’t thinking with the right head.
LostWanderer@fedia.iotoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•To those in countries where democracy might last another election - **harm reduction is not optional**3·8 天前As I am socially anxious; it’s rough to interact with others. However, I will stay strong and try to participate when possible. As, communities do survive if they actually work with one another despite their differences. We can survive Trump’s cursed presidency through working together. The rich fear that shit, this is why the policies Republicans are pushing are so disruptive for the working class. To reduce the odds of them being able to work communally to fight against oligarchs and their mouthpiece Republicans/MAGA sympathizers.
LostWanderer@fedia.iotoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•To those in countries where democracy might last another election - **harm reduction is not optional**4·8 天前This is just a troll, clearly wants to argue unnecessarily.
LostWanderer@fedia.iotoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•To those in countries where democracy might last another election - **harm reduction is not optional**371·8 天前This is why I voted for Kamala, as it would’ve reduced harm for a little while…Long enough to figure out an effective counter. Right now, I am using my voice as best as possible to reduce further harm (with the Big Bad Bill coming into effect soon) I dread losing my insurance and wasting away because untreated it’s a guarantee. Given that I live in a mostly Red State, I could be one of the 17 million affected, or spared because I work part-time… If there are elections in the future, I will be voting with harm reduction in mind every time. Unless America becomes a doomed Fascist Nation which devours itself from within.

LostWanderer@fedia.ioto linuxmemes@lemmy.world•Arch Linux: For those who have the "I can fix him!" mentality.5·10 天前EndeavourOS, CachyOS, and archinstall do lower the barrier to entry for Arch itself, which means that there may be really fresh users (who should probably not be on Arch) using it. As wild as it sounds, those Arch and its distros get recommended to new users that aren’t technically inclined.
For the seasoned Arch users, non-critical breaks don’t feel as serious, since they can fix him. It’s just the new users wandering in a dark place without light (a place they shouldn’t be encouraged to wander, without knowledge), that these problems are serious or can be made worse by said user misunderstanding how to apply fixes. Or prevent issues in the future.
I agree that there are likely very few serious breakages not caused by a user happening on Arch, just the potential of them happening (anything made by human hands occasionally will suffer this).
Yeah, it’s total clickbait, but I didn’t think it would be bare minimum decent to include actual information (admittedly too late at the end). I couldn’t be bothered to give them the view, I ended up hiding the source channel because it was pumping out a lot of slop and clickbait.
