The people who started the company are just 3 white blokes with extensive industry experience who had their finger on the pulse of media appetite outside of blockbusters. They’re not activists or politically motivated in a serious sense.
Maybe I’m being harsh but it seems like aside from a few good films they mainly just pump out quirky liberal stuff for the sake of generating profits - a heartfelt i-think-i-like-this-little-life movie with vague themes of representation and a saturated colour palette*** can be put together on a middling budget and easily recoup costs. Commercial viability is of course unavoidable but it feels like a motivating factor.
Civil War’s their most expensive movie so far and it’s only 50 million USD.
***Or whatever it is that tiktok is harking for in the moment: trauma-as-horror, the 2000s, existentialism, Adam Sandler, etc.

I actually bought some old issues of those magazines recently and I’ve found some interesting stuff - it’s documentation of all sorts of terrible mercenary exploits and special forces exploits, spoken of with pride and great detail.
On further research I found that the magazine has actually been prosecuted before for leaking classified details around mercenary advertisements.
just want to say, although I rarely have time to drop in and watch along, I appreciate the curation of films. Sometimes I watch them in my own time, and they’ve always been worthwhile watches.
Lots of bizarre films I never would’ve found otherwise. Have you ever thought of making a letterboxd playlist of all the films?
I think there being only one cis woman on the site comes down to cis women potentially not wanting to reveal that sort of information because men on the internet would inevitably be strange about it.
That said, there’s probably only 5-10 more in hiding (if that, even).

I don’t know anything about this sort of thing, but rather than quit and give some techbro libfash the money, stay on board and gather as much information as you can. Prep for some whistleblowing. Collect evidence that you were decieved as to the uses of your software perhaps, if that’s the case.
